About
L.H.Griffin is a ceramicist living and working in Washington D.C. They grew up in the mouth of the Gerrymander on the North Shore of Massachusetts and spent their early days poking beach flotsam and copying motifs from colonial gravestones.
After graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art with a BFA in Ceramics and Art History, Griffin spent 15 years in museums working with the public. A pilgrimage to the Edward Gorey House in 2023 inspired them to become a full-time artist.
They are enthusiastic about sharing their love of pottery with others and teach classes and workshops at several studios in the DMV.
They are passionate about making usable objects, good design, and trying new varieties of iced coffee. Inspirations include 17th century English slipware ceramics, American folk-art, and StarTrek.
Griffin’s work can be purchased at various markets and festivals in the area. Work is also available via the website.
